Fix for netflix error code n8156-6013

Ok… this has annoyed me to no end.. I pay for Netflix but I can’t use it now that SilverLight 4 has been installed..

I’ve read several things about this problem.. Netflix blames Microsoft, and Microsoft in turn blames Netflix.

I read about deleting the PlayReady folder, don’t do that then you’ll get the DRM error.. uninstalling PlayReady doesn’t work either so don’t try that either.

I’ve read that it’s because I’m running Windows 7 64bit…  we’ll never know what the problem is and frankly I don’t care I just want it fixed, but for now I’ve got a fix..

The ONLY fix right now is to run an older SilverLight or SillverLight 3… Netflix has updated their site so you can’t get it from them now, they have only version 4…

I’ve just spent the last hour or trying to find SilverLight 3 and it’s nowhere to be found for download so I did something a bit sneaky and right now as I type this I’ve got Full Metal Jacket playing in the FireFox in the Netflix player on my other monitor.. SUCCESS!

Well go to the Microsoft SilverLight 3 SDK page here:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=1ea49236-0de7-41b1-81c8-a126ff39975b

but you won’t be downloading the SDK.. you’ll scroll down the page to Instructions and find the link for this:
“To build Silverlight 3 applications, you can install Silverlight 3 for Developers here.”

Here’s a screen capture, it’s the last line..

That will let you download essentially what is Silverlight 3 or to be exact it’s version#: 3.0.50106.0

and voila you now have Netflix that works!

If I were you I would make a backup of that file you downloaded somewhere as I have done myself..

Chase update, yes they’re still incompetent!

WOW… 

so as of now I’ve spent over 3 hours and about 22 minutes in total on the phone with Chase banking over the last three days

I’ve spoke to 25 people as of today, and I finally made my car payment…

it shouldn’t be that hard to give them my money…

The best part about it is that none of them seem to know what the other is talking about.. 25 times now I’ve had to give them my account information, and it seems there’s no notes at all in my account as to the situation, so 25 times I had to explain the problem to these people…

How do they stay in business with such poor customer service?!?!

I literally have been trying to make my car payment since the 12th, and today I can finally do it, the day before it’s due….

and the account is still messed up as it says I still owe for last month as well, but I paid it, and what it says I owe them is actually less than my payment is and no one can tell me why or what it is?!?!

… at least I finally made the payment right?!?!

morons…. all of them…

Chase Customer Support is Useless and Incompetent

So I just want to pay on my car.

I’m on hold yet again as I type this actually, I’m at 2 1/2 hours on the phone with these people. At this point in time I’ve spoke to 17 different people.

I’ve heard numerous excuses as to why I can’t make my payment.

It’s due the 21st of this month.

I almost always pay it early via their online banking system, but now for some unknown reason I cannot do it.

It says I owe $0.00 but it’s due on the 21st of March. Now I have a paper bill here that says my payment amount and due date of course.

Yes I’ve asked to speak to supervisors about this but suspiciously three times when I asked I was hung up on.

They told me that I wasn’t actually hung up on, it’s because I was using a cell phone and it was my phone that cut me off. I told them i don’t think so because I was bounced back to the main menu when I asked to speak to a supervisor, so to me that is the same as being hung up on. They of course didn’t know what to say at that point since I proved them wrong.

I was then told that the reason I couldn’t make my payment was because I was using FireFox and I was told to use Internet Explorer… SURPRISE the same thing happens with IE… ( I thought that was rather funny they would even suggest that, it’s 2010 and I think we should be able to use our browser of choice and not be told to use IE)

I was then told that I couldn’t make my payment because it’s too early?!?!?  What the frak does that mean? I’m not allowed to pay early now?!!? Is this a ploy to make sure they get their late fees from me? Do they need that $$ that bad that they won’t let me pay early just so they get the fee?

Again, I’m on the phone with them right now… they told me to log out and they’ll trouble shoot my account, I log back in and my account is gone, log back out, log back in and my account is there again but I still cannot pay my bill.

I even emailed the account executive for Chase but never hard back of course…

I emailed them as well through the online banking system and they told me to call the same number that I’ve been calling.

Apparently no one writes notes on the accounts as to any problems either, I’ve had to explain my problem 17 times now to 17 different people.

So I was told now that someone should be calling me back soon, what are the chances of that actually happening?!

Cyersquatters Suck!

So I’ve been thinking of re-doing and even re-naming DragonSteelMods…

I’ve come up with a lot of names, and I’ve searched for the available .com domain name, about 50 of them so far..

they’re all taken and it’s pissing me off to no end..

it wouldn’t be bad if they were actual websites, but 99% of them are cybersquatters asking 10’s of thousands of dollars for the names.. they’re just parked pages with ads on them.. they’re ruining the internet seriously, there could be valuable and informative sites on those domains but no, some one had to take them and hold them ransom..

grrr….

My AT&T Contract Expires in two weeks…

Hmm.. what to do, what to do…

My contract expires on the 27th actually, two weeks basically..

but their records are wrong on how long I’ve been with them, it says only since 2006, but I know it was before that.

I’ve been fighting with them for years about this literally.. I was with AT&T, they switched me to Cingular, and then they switched me back to AT&T. The 2006 date is from when I was switched to Cingular officially and apparently they count nothing before that and I don’t know why..

I’m loathe to re-up with them as they screwed me over the last time on my phone.. I got the AT&T Tilt when it was new, fine they gave me a $50 discount on a refurb one, but the week after I bought the phone they put it on sale for FREE with contract renewal  Of course I called them and complained but they said there was nothing they could do.. you mean to tell me that they honestly didn’t know they were going to run that special in a week?!

They did it to me on purpose obviously.. and of course they didn’t even want to give me a discount because they said I wasn’t with them that long, and then we’re back to the fact that yes I was with them years before that, but the records are lost apparently…  I don’t save my bills from that far back, maybe I should..

What other choice do I have though.. Verizon is the other option or maybe T-Mobile…  AT&T is the third company I’ve been with and it’s the first one that I can actually get a phone call in my house with, so that’s the main reason I’ve stuck with them this long…

I want the new AT&T Tilt2, but don’t want to pay $200 for it especially after the last time I dealt with them in getting a new phone..
