I Need A Sponsor for My Site…

tg

So I’m on GoDaddy hosting and when you buy one of their hosting plans they advertise unlimited storage but apparently they’ve taken a page from cellular companies and their unlimited isn’t really unlimited at all.

TestFreaks the Blog closed, they decided to focus on the business to business aspect of things and they basically gave me the blog but I had to change the name and we came up with Technogog, which is fine. To get started I picked a GoDaddy shared hosting account, one of the middle tiers and I upload my site and got a warning that I was running out of resources and so I spent the money and upgraded the server to resource level 3 from the default thinking that might solve my problem. More ram, dual CPU etc and it didn’t fix the issues apparently.

I found out that there’s some fine print I didn’t read, and GoDaddy doesn’t have an asterisk by the ‘unlimited storage’ that they advertise but I found the fine print and I found out that there’s a limit of 250,000 files and folders you can have on the server, which I’m at about 211,000 right now. I called then to see what I can do and the guy I talked to was actually very helpful and I need to move to a new server it seems but I don’t have the money as I’m not making money since the server can’t handle the site now. (decent servers are expensive and at this point in time I would be paying more than I’m actually making and can’t do that) The site crashes every time I post something now, it’s annoying. Having a site and not having it be able to be visited can be a problem when it comes to making any money from it.

Since I don’t have any money to upgrade I wonder how hard it would be to get someone to sponsor my site? I’ve never looked into it but I’ve learned it’s possible.

I was looking into new hosting providers and found that Namecheap actually has a sponsorship program but it says it can take several weeks for them to review the submission. Yeah I get it, they’re busy, but I need a server now so I can actually post content so I can get visitors so I can maybe make some money.

I don’t know, this is just a rambling post I guess, just complaining, but I’m allowed as it’s my site, but as of now I don’t know what to do unless I come into some money.

If I stayed with GoDaddy they have specific WordPress hosting without the files and folders limitations.  Right now they have a special on it for the middle tier of just $9.99 per month, it’s regularly $19.99 per month. So if I had about $120 I could get it for a year but I’m worried as there is a limit of 250,000 monthly visitors. I’m not sure what my exact visitor count per month is right now as I thought a plugin was the issue with the site so I didn’t have Google analytics on for a few days and of course the site being down all the time doesn’t help either. According to the Cpanel metrics on  GoDaddy for the site I got about 190,000 visitors in December and as of yesterday it’s a little over 170,000 visitors. So that middle tier wouldn’t work as it only has a 250,000 limit so I would need the highest level which is on sale for $29.99 per month which is regularly $69.99 per month so I would need at least $360 for a year of hosting to be locked into that price. That level of hosting says ‘millions’ of visitors per month, whatever that means, but it’s better than a 250k limit right?

I wonder if I could get an advertiser or sponsor for this, and it doesn’t have to be GoDaddy hosting of course, that was just an example.

If I could like sell a couple advertising spots for like $500 per year that would be awesome, I could lock in the price and pay for a couple/few years in advance with that GoDaddy WordPress hosting. Any takers?  A nice 300×250 sidebar banner ad?

I don’t know what to do at this point…  blah…

Trouble Seems to Find Me

a1

Apple products suck in my opinion, I hate them and now I have yet another reason to hate them even more.

I keep to myself, I mind my own business, I work from home, not making much money at it, but I’m home mostly all the time, I really don’t go out much but yet trouble just finds me for some reason. Karma, fate, bad luck, whatever it is, it seems I’ve got a dark cloud hovering over me. I try to be a good person, yes I’m miserable most of the time, but I try to be honest and help those when I can and I try not to bother anyone.

About two months ago the police came to my house saying they had reports of an old elderly woman crying for help in my house. I’m 42 and I’m oldest person here so I don’t understand that at all. I don’t get where that came from, and of course they’re not going to tell you who made the complaint. All he could tell me was that it was a 911 call about someone hearing an elderly woman crying for help in my house. Really?!

Now on Monday this guy and his two friends come to my house, knock on my door and he accuses me a stealing his iPhone?! I don’t know who the hell this guy is, never seen him before.

The thing that bothers me about this is that they came straight my house. I have security cameras outside and I saw these three people coming across the street and then they started coming up my steps. They parked and came straight to my house first. Why?

He asks me was I at Target today as his iPhone was stolen from the bathroom at Target. No I wasn’t, I wasn’t anywhere near Target, in fact I can’t remember the last time I was at Target, it’s got to be more than six months at least.

Anyway the guy proceeds to show me on his MacBook the GPS tracking for the iPhone which looks to me like it’s in the middle of the street. He goes on to say that the tracking is accurate within 20 feet so it has to be here but the problem there is that my house is about 80-100 feet away from the GPS mark. According to his little GPS mark it was actually in front of the house to the right of mine, directly in front actually, but yet he came straight to my house.

The next problem is that there is a cross street right there at my house, or one house over actually and he says that’s so and so street name right there and your house is here so it has to be here but no that’s not what that street is called, the street he named is one block over actually. Apparently he can’t read street signs either. So actually it wasn’t in front of my house, or the house next door, it was one block over. Again, why did he come straight to my house?

He didn’t even really let me look at the screen either, he just held it up and pointed to the mark and then turned the laptop away from me and then went on about the whole 20 feet thing and the wrong street name.

Maybe I’m being paranoid, but I don’t like it at all.

It seems to me that iPhone GPS tracking isn’t the greatest and I don’t appreciate being falsely accused for something like this.

The other thing that bothers me is this guy was actually knocking on doors accusing people of stealing his phone. Not what I would call the safest thing to do really.

Could it have been a scam to try and get into people houses? I sure as hell wasn’t letting him and his friends into my home, who knows what could happen these days?!

I don’t know but this just gives me yet another reason to hate Apple products…

Chipmunk in My Yard

So it seems a chipmunk has made himself a home in the hole at the bottom of the wall in my backyard.

chipmunk

I have bird feeders back there and I guess he realized he can get a quick meal now of seeds from what the birds drop. He’s a brave little chipmunk.. I have a sliding glass door back there actually and he comes right up to it and eats even if I’m standing right there. There are a few squirrels around but they run as soon as they see me, this chipmunk stayed there until I opened the door and then he ran to the hole and stopped and turned around and just sat there. I went and got my camera and he was still sitting there just staring at me.. Cute little guy…

Deer in My Yard

So I have woods and a hill behind my house and there are several deer that live there and I see them all the time. They’ve never come into the yard because it’s about a five foot drop and I have a fence but they do come right down. I like to throw scraps up to them, old apple, carrots and carrot shavings which they seem to really like.

deer

One is right there looking at me, and the other is off to the right and up a bit, it was starting to walk away when I snapped the picture.

I named them ‘breakfast’ and ‘lunch’….  ‘dinner’ is a rather large buck who wasn’t around, or he was up on the hill and I didn’t see him. They blend in so well with the woods.

Hawk in My Yard

Just random nature picture…

hawk

So I went outside the other day to take the dog out and there was a rather large Hawk in my backyard. He was actually sitting about 15 feet from the back door on the hill, I didn’t even notice him until he flew off and startled me. He went right up into the tree and I tried to get a good picture of him, but he really just blends in.

He’s right there in the center of the picture..
